Spoked wheels, again

The third wheel this year. Ash for the felloes, oak for the spokes, a steel tyre shrunk on in the yard. The hub took longer than everything else together - the mortises have to be cut at a slight angle so the wheel is dished, otherwise it will not survive the first rough road.

Drying timber

A simple rule that keeps proving itself: one year of air drying per inch of thickness, stickers every forty centimetres, and the stack kept off the ground and out of direct sun.
